Bearings assist to mount the deck on an axle

Bearings assist to mount the deck on an axle. The majority of bearings are graded by a scale called an ABEC scale. Regular size of bearings is Industrial 608 and bearings are generally made of steel. Additional hardware includes a set of bolts, commonly 8 in a set (10-32 bolts). An Allen (or crosshead) is also part of hardware. Also, used are self-lock nylock nuts. They come in a range of different Shapes and sizes to go with different types of skating, such as street or trick skating. Smaller sizes maintain the deck closer to the floor, which requires not as much of power to speed up or slow down. The hardness of the wheel also affects on the overall performance. Hardness is generally measured by durometer ‘A’ scale. A very soft wheel is about 75a and a very hard wheel is about 101a.
